Great Life After Sports
In February 2011 Alexey Tishchenko officially announced his retirement from sports. Internet media flashed headlines about the athlete's decision: 'Tishchenko Has Had Enough of Box ing ', 'Tishchenko Retires from Box ing ' and so on. However, for every athlete there comes a time to stop. The question is, what's next? Cherish the former glory or continue serving your country in a different quality, that of a politician and a public figure?
The famous athlete chose active participat ion in our country's life. 27-year-old Alexey Tishchenko serves as deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Omsk Oblast. Member of Athletes' Commission, Russian Olympic Committee, vice-principal of the Olympic Boxing Training Center, and this list is far from complete.
Alexey's efforts are valued and appreciated, and his public life is a series of interesting, important events, which can be followed through the headlines of Internet media.

As double Olympic champion in different weight classes and as member of Athletes' Commission, ROC, Alexey was invited to Moscow to take part in celebrations on the occasion of Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) 100 th anniversary. On November 25 he took part in Olympic Committee session, then – in the Olympic Ball. Among the invitees to the traditional Olympic Ball were other famous boxers: Arthur Beterbiyev, Sergey Vodopyanov, and Russian sport legend, double Olympic champion Boris Lagutin.
Tszyu and Tishchenko were Guests at World Cup of Petroleum Countries (Sportbox.ru, November 28)

Right after the Olympic Ball, on November 27, Alexey went to the World Cup of Petroleum Countries in memory of Farman Salmanov in Surgut. This boxing competition is part of the Olympic tryouts for the London 2012 Olympic Games. As guest of honor, Alexey handed awards to young athletes and shared his experience.
'It is always interesting to box with boxers from other countries. International experience obtained at such tournaments allows athletes to grow. Who knows, maybe there's a future Olympic champion boxing here!' - said Alexey Tishchenko in an interview to Vesti.Sport.

The VIII All-Russian Boxing Class A Tournament named after Merited Master of Sport of Russia Alexander Ostrovsky will take place on December 6-10. The event held by Omsk Boxing Federation is part of the calendar of sporting events of Omsk Oblast. This year the opening ceremony of the tournament at 17:00 will feature the honoring of double Olympic champion, World and European champion Alexey Tishchenko on the occasion of the end of his sports career .

Recently Alexey's name has been appearing in the news concerning contemporary documentary films. He starred in Vladimir Golovnyev's documentary 'Champion's Anatomy'. Alexey is up to the mark: 'Boxer Stars as Boxer', 'Documentary about Tishchenko Receives International Film Festival Award', 'Tishchenko's 'Anatomy' Declared Best Film on Heroes of Our Time in Ufa' and so on. The documentary has already been released to the general public: starting December 1, one can view 'Champion's Anatomy' in Atrium-Kino.
A human life is so much more than an athlete's life, so we're yet to see what else Destiny has in stock for a person with such pro-active Attitude as Alexey.
