Our compatriot won three golds!

KaNaeva took the place of KaBaeva.

The first victory under the belt of Omsk top gymnast eighteen years old Evgeniya Kanaeva. She got in the national combined team in 2007 (Europe Championship) replacing traumatized Alina Kabaeva. With a ribbon she took her first medal. Still she was regarded as a number three after Olga Kapranova and Vera Sessina.

A breakthrough happened in the Olympiad year. Genja – start winning one competition after another: Russian championship, Europian one – the precursor of a world cup. For the Olympiad she was the first candidate.

In the first qualification Kanaeva drops a skipping-rope. Suddenly the question appeared, if she was nervous? But afterwards she didn’t get a cause for doubts taking the top score in each and every discipline, making a 3.5 points gap with her competitors. In calisthenics it is a great benefit. Even Alina Kabaeva did not win the Olympiad with such an advantage.

- I was absolutely unaware of the other girl’s results, even didn’t want to know, - tells Evgeniya Kanaeva in her interview to “Ves Sport” agency. I believed in the victory only after I got the forth mark. I didn’t think of it before. Each exercise is favorite as it is, can’t even say the most favorite one.

By the way, after the last exercise Genja was almost crying realizing the victory. She thanked her coaches, Vera Shtelbaums, saying “99% of the result is hers” and Irina Viner who “picked me out and sent in here”.

I don’t think I was too much excited before the start. My coach Vera Shtelbaums calmed me saying not to think of the Olympiad. I just did my best. The chief-coach Irina Viner wished good luck and orderliness. I listened to them and won. Being compared to Alina Kabaeva don’t irritate me at all. I just know we are different.

Staying at the pedestal happy Evgeniya Kanaeva was singing a Russian hymn as well as the other Omsk Olympian champions.

By the way Evgeniya Kanaeva supported her country-woman and coeval Margarita Aliychuk and her team. The girls didn’t let down and won the Olympiad. Byelorussians and Chinese had nothing but share silver and bronze.

Margarita is very diligent girl. Two years long she was spare, but she was able to wait and get in to the main team, - her first coach Elena Arayis informs. This is not easy – she is a natural leader. Playing assistant roles is a hard test.

With her ideal figure and face, ability to feel the partner she is a good team-worker.

Not only first role actors get “Oskar”. The same is with the second role ones. They are not at all worse than the leading actors but stay in shade. The same is in calisthenics: those girls who compete in group competitions enjoy less attention than their colleagues – singles. But they perform brilliantly.

It is common knowledge that in calisthenics it is sometimes more difficult to win the national championship or to get in the combined team than take part in the international competitions. Aliychuk as well as Kanaeva succeeded in doing this.

Not revenge but victory

Alexey Tischenko had almost no defeats in his professional career. Olympiad, European and World Championships, World cup. Things were going swimmingly… Until 2007 when he gave place to the English sportsman Frank Given in the semi-final of the World cup.

Many specialists admitted later that the defeat played a positive role. It is better to lose before the Olympiad than lose it. And a good deal of sport rage will be of a good use. That’s why Alexei was eager not only to win but to take a revenge.

But Given didn’t get to the Olympiad because of weight problems. It happens. Tischenko beat Armenian, Tunisian, Colombian in the first three fights. The final fight was harder: Frenchman Daude Sou run into heavy opposition form Alexey, who won 11:9.

- I have won just two kicks more, - quotes Sportbox.ru. It is always hard to fight such boxers. The fight went topsy-turvy. I did what I had to do – to take the lead over the counterpart. It's quite another matter whether it was successful not in every moment. But in general, I have won. This is the most important Our captain leaving said he relies on me. I tried not to let him done. I am happy our combined team took the third place in general and I had a part in it.

Incidentally this was the last gold in the Russian money-box. Tischenko have won the 23 gold medal for our team.
